Washington D.C. the coolest city in America?

Turns out Congress is Cool. Forbes has just declared Washington D.C as the coolest City in America. The semi-scientific system for measuring coolness takes into account:

  • Entertainment options, including the availability of sporting events, zoos, aquariums, golf courses, ski areas, national parks, theatres and museums. If there’s a dinosaur exhibition then its cool!
  • The food factor, including yummy restaurants and bars, farmer’s markets, breweries and CSA’s. Point deductions for yucky food chains.
  • Racial and ethnic diversity, because its more interesting that way.
  • Portion of residents who are between the ages of 20 and 34, apparently this is when the cool factor peaks. I am smack bang in the middle of being cool!
  • Population growth since the year 2000 and net migration from 2010 to 2013, the greater the influx the more cool kids.
